La Resistance Base Camp

Updated Wagnerian Article

For some, Election Day was a day of Joy, hope, change, and every other cliche Brack Obama was able to throw our way.  For others, it was an awakening.

Some call the election a turn away from the Republican Party.  Those pundits would be wrong.  This election was a rejection of faux conservatism.  It was a rejection of the moderation of the political philosophy that has helped make this country the world’s love super power.

During his speech at the Republican National Convention, John McCain energized the party by asking us to “fight with [him]“.  From Sept. 5th on, we fought, and Sarah Palin joined us.  Senator McCain did not.  He allowed his running mate to get dirty, as he attempted to stay above the fray, and in turn, not be able to keep the people behind him.  John McCain neither fought with us, nor for us.

Don’t get me wrong, I am proud to see our country go through such a historic moment, and I congratulate President Elect Obama on his victory.  But let’s not forget that this election, no matter how impressive one perceives the electoral tallies to be, was much closer than any mainstream media outlet predicted.  Ohio and Florida were deiced by 1-2% respectively, in an election that the Democrats were supposed to walk away with.

There may not be a liberal super majority by numbers, but when one factors in 2 independents, along with the very likely possibility that they can scrape away a few Republicans per vote, chances remain high that most bills will pass without a stiff challenge.

There is little a President can do when it comes to fixing an economy.  There is, however, much he can do to destroy one.  Obama’s desire to “spread the wealth around” while taxing the check signers and job creators, leaves less money available for all.  I shudder to think what will happen to Iraq if he pulls us out before completion, while also questioning what so little legislative opposition will do to the ability of the government to control our pockets, our unborn, our freedom of speech and the press, and other parts of our day to day lives that we have taken for granted.

Recently, CNN Headline News host Glenn Beck said that there was little doubt that this country was going to hell, and now, it’s just a matter of figuring out how big the hand basket will be.  As this country goes to hell, I want the Democrats in charge, shouldering all the blame.  Sometimes, you must lose the battle to win the war.

Granted, without the economy collapsing, this election would look different.  But it would also have been different if faux conservatives would have stayed out of the fray (this means you Rudy Giuliani and Mike Huckabee).  If Mitt Romney would have been the nominee, Obama would never have stood a chance.

We, the conservatives, now must retool, and become stronger than ever.  I do not blame this loss on President Bush, the war, or any other perceived failed policy of this administration.  This was McCain’s election to lose, and he did so without flaw.

Now, it is the right side of the isle that is preparing for hope, and change.  We may now be in the political minority, but our voices will be heard.  Even if the liberals take away our talk radio, we will find away.  It will start with closing our primaries to party members, to ensure that the selection of a moderate never happens again, and it will end with us retaking Washington.  Be it Romney, Palin, Bobby Jindal, or anyone else who can emerge from the right, we will rebound strong.  Until then, we will fight for ourselves, like we have all along.

It may have been Obama in 2008, but it will be freedom in 2012.

Viva La Resistance.
